A rousing adventure set in twenty-second century Zimbabwe.
Long Review:

One of those books you just can’t put down. The story is set in a twenty-second century Zimbabwe still informed by traditional tribal beliefs. Tendai, Rita, and Kuda are the sheltered children of a general who has managed to rid the city of all its marauding gangs, save one. With the aid of The Mellower—-a cross between a nanny and a new age priest—-the children escape their compound one day in order to earn a scout badge, and are immediately kidnapped. So begins a rousing adventure which includes working in plastic mines, a stay at a traditional village, and a bout with chicken pox. All the while they are pursued by the Ear, the Eye, and the Arm—-mutant detectives hired by their parents--until the exciting climax of the book. Even reluctant readers respond enthusiastically to this inventive book.
