Long Review:

Cartoon wizard Chuck Jones and word wizard Dr. Seuss teamed up to create this animated version of the “Grinch” that is every bit as good as the book – and it takes a lot for a children’s librarian to say that!  The now classic story of the Grinch’s transformation from curmudgeonly thief to altruistic spreader of joy is expanded here with additional words and songs written by Dr. Seuss, not to mention the gloriously funny animation.  And for many of us who grew up before VCRs, looking forward to the annual broadcast on television, Boris’ Karloff’s narration is the definitive reading of Dr. Seuss’ classic holiday story.   However, don’t let any of this put you off picking up the book and sharing it with your family at Christmastime!  Before going to see the big Hollywood production of the Grinch this Christmas, treat yourself to the original animated classic.  As an added bonus, this video also includes the film version of another Dr. Seuss classic, Horton Hears a Who.
